SEEDS WEEK !
SEEDS WEEK was a great success - we gathered many more books than we could have every hoped for! The estimate we figured on was about 2000 books - of which we will try to bring 1500 hundred to Zambia. We now need to gather some funds together to finance bringing these to Zambia, so please contact us if you can help!
BOOK DRIVE
SEEDS has collected books to bring to the University of Zambia to help establish a "student empowerment centre".
You spent $60 on your Biology text-book, and yes, you can probably sell it for $20. But if you donate it to students in Zambia, its value will increase exponentially. Owning your own text-book in Zambia is rare - its cost is equivelant to tuition at the U of A. You contribution will make an incredible difference.
BOOK BOOTH LOCATIONS:
Althought the BOOK DRIVE has passed, you can drop off books at the International Centre until the end of the school year - and we will try out best to sort through them before we go.
FUNDRAISING BLITZ
During this same time, we will be on a blitz to raise money for the project, to purchase even more texts, to pay for jouranl and magazine subscriptions for the student centre in Zambia, and to help establish further SEEDS projects. If you can help in any way with fundraising, please email.
SEEDS FUNDRIASING PARTY
We hope to host a party at the University of Alberta's Power Plant on the Saturday following the SEEDS WEEK where we will feature an African Dumming band. More information will be posted as this project also developes.
